• Are activations simulations really necessary
• Yes
• Need to estimate the radiation, activation
  environment of the target hall
• This will determine type and cost of target hall
  equipment (e.g. radiation hard lights?)
• Design of radiation shielding
• Operational planning for equipment
  repair/replacement
• Failure criteria
• Simulations need to be realistic
• Simulation errors of factor 2 OK
