Installing CD Based Software
  • Typically, an installation wizard starts up when
    CD inserted
  • May have to go to the Add/Remove Programs
    function in the Control Panel

  • Usually downloaded file is compressed (Zip
    format)
  • Many in the form of an .exe file that can be
    executed (Start, Run)
  • May have to have an UnZip utilitiy

  • Make note of the folder (directory) where it is
    being installed can change
  • Look for setup.exe file if installation is not
    automatic
  • Custom vs. Full installlation
  • Take all or decide what features needed

Post Installation
  • To open, click on icon on Start menu or create a
    shortcut
  • Drag to the desktop
  • Drag to the task bar
  • Removing a program
  • Many have uninstall feature
  • Add/Remove Programs otherwise
  • Dont just delete files in the folder!
