Title: Peter Loch

1
  • Simulation Status Plans for 7.0.0 (for
    Misha)
  • Important Integration Milestone
  • March 26th Andrea Dell'Acqua created a
prototype of building the entire Atlas geometry
in Geant4 where the LArG4 package included
without changes. Now Andrea's "glue" code is
    stored in new subpackage offline/LArCalorimete
    r/LArG4/LArG4Sim
  • This integration method can be used also for
    combined EMB-Tile testbeam simulations.
  • Bill Seligman (Nevis Labs) is updating LArG4
    package to simplify
  • this "glue" code
  • the task of using LArG4 as the basis of the
    testbeam simulation
  • This update should be finished before April 15.
The detailed plan for G4 ATLAS integration will
depend on results of the special meeting during
ATLAS Software Week in May but the major steps
    have been done.

2
  • The structure for G4 test-beam codes in
    repository
  • There is strong interest in using LArG4 as the
basis of the testbeam simulation to
  • validate Geant4 and LArG4 in comparison with
    testbeam data
  • get feedback from users
  • The parts which are common for a testbeam and
the whole ATLAS will be in existing package
    LArCalorimeter/LArG4
  • But the specific testbeam parts will be in
    another tree structure, LArCalorimeter/LArG4TB,
at the same level as LArCalorimeter/LArG4.
Obviously there will be a dependency of LArG4TB
on LArG4, and it will reflect our desire to use
the same (as much as possible) code for testbeams
    and the whole ATLAS
  • In March the package LArCalorimeter/LArG4TB/
    has been created with subpackages
    (subdirectories)
  • LArG4TBBarrel
  • LArG4TBEC
  • LArgG4TBHEC
  • LArG4TBEmecHec
  • LArG4TBFCAL
  • LArG4TBdbORB

3
  • Plans for testbeam simulations (to be reviewed
    with Rob)
  • The EMB G4 testbeam code was used by Gaston
Parrour and Kostas Kordas for G4 validation.
Guillaume Unal will work with updated by Gaston
code for combined EMB-Tile testbeam. Milestone
the first version of combined EMB-Tile G4 code in
Release 7 (if Guillaume Unal and Vakhtang Tsulaia
    agree)
  • The EMEC G4 code is used by Maarten Boonekamp to
study the response drop at very high incoming
energy flux. The simulation will be compared with
data taken with a focused very narrow beam in
2002. See the talk "Ion build up analysis status"
on EM general meeting on April 9th
  • The EMEC G4 code of testbeam module prepared by
Andrei Soukharev was integrated with HEC G4
testbeam code by Pavol Strizenec for combined
    2002 EMEC-HEC testbeam
  • 2003 FCal calibration run can be simulated in G4
(Peter Loch may need manpower). PL interest in
    Ottawa (M. Khakzad et al.)

4
  • Release 8
  • Evaluation of GeoModel for LAr G4 detector
  • First version of combined EC2 testbeam code
  • Pile-Up simulations in G4
