ELIJAH
  • Teaches
  • People should worship Yahweh alone
  • People should have faith in Yahweh

Story found in the BOOK OF KINGS
God sent ELIJAH to KING AHAB Ahabs wife,
JEZEBEL, was evil. She refused to worship
Yahweh. She had Ahab build a temple to the god,
Baal.
4
Jezebel used her influence to lead people away
from Yahweh, and towards the god, Baal.
Elijah warned Jezebel and King Ahab that They
would die, horrible deaths.
Jezebel did not like Elijahs message and tried
to kill him. Elijah said that God would not send
rain for 3 years. There was a famine.
5
God sent Elijah back to Ahab, only to find that
Jezebel had all the TRUE prophets killed.
Elijah asked King Ahab to Gather all the
prophets of Baal on the top of Mt. Carmel.
They were to offer a sacrifice To their god,
Baal. But, Baal Did not respond. Elijah
offered a sacrifice to Yahweh, and huge fire
broke Out. The others cried out to Yahweh, in
belief of him. The false prophets were put
to Death.
6
Jezebel was so angry, she promised to kill
Elijah, but God took Elijah away in a golden
chariot.
Today, Jewish people leave a place at their table
for Elijahs return, as promised by God.
7
ISAIAH
Put your evil doings away from my sight... Devote
yourselves to justice... Uphold the rights of
the orphan defend the cause of the
widow"(111-17).
the most POLITICAL prophet
Isaiah was born in 760BC and lived in Jerusalem.
8
Isaiah is called the Messianic Prophet because so
many of his prophecies referred to a coming
Messiah and a new world.
9
ISAIAH also foretold Jesus death (the last part
of Isaiah 52 and all of 53)
Two messages
1.) the bad news about sin and its penalty and
2.) the Good News about a Savior who would pay
the penalty of sin for sinners.
10
MICAH
Ministry lasted from 750-686 BC
He prophesied during a time of crisis. People
followed Yahweh, but were not being just towards
one another. They were not treating one
another kindly.
Micah was poor, so he wrote out of concern for
the poor.
Message Judgement and Hope
11
He has told you, O man, what is good and what
does the Lord require of you but to do justice,
to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your
God? (Micah 66-8)
12
DEBORAH
A prophetess
A judge (King) of Israel
A military leader
Mother of Israel
Lived 1209-1169BC
13
Deborah helped lead her people to victory over
the Canaanites, with the help of her General,
BARACH
God told Deborah that Israel would win, even
though the Canaanites had many more soldiers.
14
Barach said he would lead the army, only if
Deborah would come with them. He had great faith
in Deborah as a military leader. Deborah was
a woman of great courage.
Deborah took no credit for the win. She praised
and thanked God.
15
MIRIAM
Aaron Moses older sister
first woman declared a prophetess in the bible
before Moses birth, Miriam told her parents
that he would save the people
Miriam waited in the bushes, until Moses was
rescued. She arranged for their mother to be his
nurse and help raise him in Pharoahs house.

16
Miriam led the women in song and dance after
Pharoahs men were drowned in the sea.
Like her brothers, Miriam died in the desert
before reaching the Promised Land.
17
DANIEL
Lived in Babylon
Daniel and his friends believed in the ONE God.
He often was criticized for this belief. The
people of Babylon tried to kill Daniel and his
friends for their beliefs.
Daniel, like many others, was known for his
dreams.
Daniel helped the King of Babylon interpret
writing on the wall. He told the King that God
was mad at the people for drinking so much and
for believing in many gods. He told the king that
he would be killed. This came true.
18
The new King made a rule that people could not
pray to God. If anyone was caught praying to
God, they would be thrown into the Lions Den.
Daniel was thrown into the lions den. But God
saved him. God closed the lions mouths.
19
HOSEA Joseph in English
Hosea was a young preacher in Israel
God instructed Hosea to marry, Gomer
Gomer became a prostitute so Hosea could reflect
Gods mercy and unconditional love.
20
Gomer left Hosea many times to go off with
different men.
Hosea preached about Gods judgement and Gods
Love. But the people of Israel did not want to
listen.
