Community Awareness
  • STLP has involved the community with various
projects that both benefits community members and
    gets them involved.
  • Community medical decals were made for those
people in the community that had health risks.
These decals could be placed on the entrance to
their home to assist rescue workers. The logos
for the health risk were discussed with the local
    fire department.
  • STLP school goals and projects have been shared
at public board meetings and site based decision
    making councils.
  • STLP films various school performances and
assemblies which are then shown on the schools
television station for the community to view.

9
Community Awareness
  • Most of the parents in the school are aware of
the STLP because of the Christmas Photo Card Fund
Raiser that took place in December.
  • A picture of some STLP students working on the
Christmas Photo Cards was placed on the district
    web page during January.
  • The school website has the STLP listed as an
after school activity and explains what STLP is.

10
Link Projects GOAL 1The STLP will develop
activities that enhance the academic, social and
emotional growth of the student.
  • Family tree project the students utilized
    online resources (ancestry.com, rootsweb.com,
etc.) to discover their family heritage. This
provided an opportunity for students to
understand who they are and where they came from.
Students learned to appreciate the diversity of
others as well as within their own family.
    (Life-long project)
  • The STLP has participated in software workshops
of Microsoft Office. The skills learned through
these workshops will continue to be used to
enhance academic performance and growth. (This
aspect of technological growth is going to be
achieved school wide with the addition of new
    computer workstations. The vertical alignment
of the software workshops will provide a
foundation for the STLP student to expand on
    prior knowledge.)

11

Link Projects GOAL 2 The STLP will provide
leadership opportunities for all students.
  • The intermediate STLP group elected officers
    (president, vice-president, secretary, and
treasurer) to oversee various aspects of STLP
    meetings.
  • The STLP meetings are an open-forum where each
student can provide input and ideas.
  • Students are in charge of small technology
troubleshooting tasks within the school. They
also maintain the computer lab by ensuring that
the computers are properly turned on and shut
    down each day.
  • Collaboration between the intermediate and
primary STLP provides opportunity for the
students to teach others through positive
    leadership and instruction.

12
Link Projects GOAL 3 The STLP will experience
multi-age collaboration by forming innovative
learning partnerships.
  • The Intermediate STLP has worked with the
Primary STLP on several projects helping the
primary students learn and practice technology
    skills.
  • Taking Pictures for the Primary Newsletter
    and Working on a Railroad
  • Safety Power
    Point Project

13
Link Projects GOAL 3 (cont.) The STLP will
experience multi-age collaboration by forming
innovative learning partnerships.
  • The intermediate STLP has collaborated with the
middle school STLP to teach them how to make
window decals with the various software and
    printers.

14
Link Projects GOAL 4 The STLP will form learning
partnerships between students with different
technology skills.
  • Students are not required to participate in all
activities. Students may select the projects and
activities that they are interested in or want to
    learn more about.
  • Teachers have the opportunity to utilize STLP
members within their classrooms to assist other
    students with technology.
  • Physical and mental limitations are addressed
through adaptations of projects and assistive
    technology

15

Link Projects GOAL 5 The STLP will develop
activities that benefit communities.
  • Collaborative window decal for those people with
medical needs. Utilizing Corel Draw and Bepop
software to customize each decal with the
individual needs of each individual. (This
project will take time and collaboration with the
community. The STLP will continue to foster this
    project as long as necessary.)

16

Link Projects GOAL 5 (cont.) The STLP will
develop activities that benefit communities.
  • Public Service Announcements on Railroad Safety
were created on Power Points to share with
students at school and will be shared with the
community through our cable channel. Railroad
tracks run through Dayton and present a danger
to our students. (Future projects will provide
other service announcements which will be
compiled into a database that can be accessed
    through the schools website.)

17
Link Projects GOAL 6 The STLP will develop
instructional activities, which integrate
technology and benefit the school and support the
Kentucky Education Technology System (KETS)
  • Currently the Primary STLP is
    working on
  • PSA Railroad Safety Power Point
  • Primary Newsletter (Monthly)
  • Art and Writing Collection highlighting student
    art and writing.
  • Below students are writing newspaper articles and
    taking pictures of students
  • by their art project for the newspaper and the
    Art Writing Magazine.

18
  • The Primary STLP also sponsored a Christmas Photo
    Card Fund Raiser.
  • The STLP students took pictures of students in
    front of a Christmas Tree.
  • The students then used a greeting card program to
insert the picture into the pre-designed
    Christmas Card.
  • Each Christmas card cost 3.00. A total
    of 360.00 was raised.

19
Digital Yearbook
  • The students have been taking digital photographs
and video throughout the year to record various
events and people at our school. It is our plan
to compile these into a digital yearbook at the
end of the year that will replace the paper copy
that our school can no longer afford to purchase.

20
Participation as a representative of STLP
  • Lincoln Elementary has just recently begun the
STLP this year. We were able to participate in
the fall showcase at NKU as observers. The
students gathered many ideas, some of which led
to current projects within our school
  • STLP representation at school board meetings and
SBDM has provided positive support from the
    school and community.

21
Vision
  • Lincoln Elementary will continue to add members
to the STLP group from an increasingly diverse
population of students. Many of the current
projects will require the attention of current
and future STLP members. It is our hope that we
can continue to have a positive impact on the
school and community through the continued
    collaboration of students, teachers, and
    community members.
