Family Consumer Science.5 credit (semester only)
  • International Cooking hands on experience in
    preparation and cooking in Italian, Mexican,
    Chinese French and German cuisines.
  • Family Consumer Science ( Intro course )
    Includes units on volunteerism, fashion and make
    up application, babysitting and child development
    skills, interior design, sewing and microwave
    cooking.

Visual Art .5 credit (semester only)
  • Mixed Media ( Prerequisite to all other art
    classes ) Hands on experiences that include
    drawing, painting, graphic design and sculpture.
    Art history and art criticism will be discussed
    for each project completed.

Technical Education 5 credit (semester only)
  • Communications and Design Systems A variety of
    experiences in product design, desktop
    publishing, multi media video production,
    photography and graphic design.
  • Construction Systems /Applied Technology
    Exploratory course in structural design, basic
    woodworking, basic hand tools, architectural
    design and job site safety and careers.
  • Manufacturing Systems/ Applied Technology
    Exploratory course in basic metal working that
    includes planning, designing and production.

  • Transportation Systems Explores the areas of
    energy technology, basic electronics, and
    transportation technology. Projects include
    boat hull design and model rockets as well as
    other applied learning activities.
  • Welding 1 Applied learning experiences in
    oxyacetylene and shielded metal arc welding .
    Flame and arc cutting principles with be
    demonstrated and discussed.

  • Landscape Design Designing landscapes for
    commercial and residential.
  • Basic Drafting/Design Introduction to
    applications, trends, equipment, working
    drawings and blueprints.
  • Architectural Design - Exploring careers in
    architecture with a final outcome of constructing
    a ¼ scale architectural model.

Music 1 credit (full year)
  • Band middle school experience or permission
    from instructor and marching band is not required
  • Advanced Band marching band is
    required/audition permission from instructor.
  • Concert Chorus permission of instructor
  • Select Choir audition or permission of
    instructor
  • Intro to Chorus No prerequisite
  • Jazz Ensemble A - audition or permission of
    instructor

  • Instrumental workshop Rhythm section players
    guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, drums are provided
    with an ensemble experience. Reading music,
    improvisation and exposing students to different
    styles of music will be explored.
  • Guitar Clinic Beginning/intermediate guitar and
    bass players will understand and perform open and
    moveable chords , major, minor and pentatonic
    scales with improvisation.
  • Music Technology Using music notation software
    ( Sibelius ) students will explore basic
    keyboarding skills while understanding simple
    compositional techniques.
