What is EEDA?

• In the year 2005, a new piece of legislation
  was developed and initiated called Education and
  Economic Development Act (EEDA). It was developed
  in cooperation with our business leaders with the
  intent to help provide students with education,
  support, and knowledge as they prepare for life
  after high school.

What is the role of the
Career Specialist?

• To work with teachers, counselors, and
  business/industry representatives to ensure the
  coordination, accountability and delivery of
  career awareness development and exploration to
  students
• in K-12.

Introduction to Careers

• To support in the exploration of career clusters
  and the selection of an area of academic focus
  within a cluster of study
• To assist with the implementation of the
  districts student career plan or individual
  graduation plan

• To assist schools in planning developing
  parent information on career development

• To assist schools in promoting the goals of
  quality career development of students in
  kindergarten through twelfth grade.

• During this nine week course, we will be
  introducing the states sixteen career clusters
  to our students. Another very important part of
  this course and the legislation of the EEDA is
  the development of an Individual Graduation Plan
  (IGP). Your child will be meeting with the Career
  Specialist and Guidance Counselor to discuss
  career interest and choices.
