    information and concepts and preparing for class
    discussions and tests.

  • Support, motivation, encouragement
  • Comfortable place to ask questions
  • More apt to study because of commitment to others
  • Can listen and discuss information and strengthen
    learning experience

  • Compare notes to clarify and fill in

    mastery of information and concepts

Getting a Study Group Started
  • Dont wait for a group to happen, create your own
    by
  • Get to know classmates.
  • Do they understand the subject?
  • Are they dependable?
  • Can they listen to others?
  • Is the person as motivated as you are?

Basics of a Study Group
  • Three to five people
  • Meet 2-3 time per week
  • Sessions should be 60-90 minutes
  • Know where you will meet
  • Define goals of group (content)
  • Create an e-mail and/or phone list

  • Who will lead the session (same or rotating)
  • Create an agenda and responsibilities of each
    member

  • Be on time
  • Be respectful of others ideas and beliefs
  • Be prepared
  • Each member contributes to discussions
  • Be prepared to work
  • Be open to learning, being wrong, making yourself
    understood

  • End session with update of agenda for next
    session
  • Maintain a positive attitude that we can do this
