Memory Verse
COLOSSIANS 113, 14
  • For he has rescued us from the dominion of
darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the
Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the
    forgiveness of sins.

4
ASSURANCE OF SALVATION
STEPS WE NEED TO MAKE
  • Follow Gods will for our lives
  • Celebrate daily Gods victory in Jesus

5
STEP ONE
FOLLOW GODS WILL FOR OUR LIVES
6
Gods Will
A. What was Christs experience at Gethsemane?
Matt. 2637, 38
  • The experience was extremely painful and
    disturbing.
  • Jesus suffered the fate that should have been
    ours.

7
Gods Will
B. What was the attitude of Jesus concerning
what He was about to face? Matt. 2639-42
  • He asked the Father to let the cup be taken away
    from Him, if possible.
  • Jesus voluntarily consented to the will of the
    Father.

8
STEP TWO
CELEBRATE GODS VICTORY
9
Gods Victory
A. What was the nature of the suffering
experienced by the Godhead that caused Christ to
ask, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Matthew 2746
  • On the cross God experienced the penalty of sin.
God Himself was crucified with Christ for
Christ was one with the Father.EGW in Signs of
    the Times, March 26, 1894.

10
Gods Victory
The Godhead suffered the consequences of our
sins. Thats what our salvation cost.
  • It was necessary for the awful darkness to
gather about His soul because of the withdrawal
of the Fathers love and favor for He was
standing in the sinners place . . . The
righteous One must suffer the condemnation and
wrath of God, not in vindictiveness for the
heart of God yearned with the greatest sorrow
when His Son, the guiltless, was suffering the
penalty of sin.EGW Comments, The SDA Bible
    Commentary, vol. 7, p. 924.

11
Gods Victory
B. What did Jesus mean when He said that it is
finished? John 1928-30
  • It is finished meant that the perfect atoning
sacrifice had once and for all been offered and
that heaven and earth had been reconnected
    through it.
  • This victory was revealed and sealed through His
    resurrection--the assurance of our salvation.
