Step 1 Create a new movie clip symbol.

Step 2 Select the first keyframe, in the Symbol
timeline, and type a word or phrase.

Step 3 In the symbol, Create a keyframe for each
letter. Example if your word has 5 letters,
create 5 keyframes. (ignore spaces)

Step 4 In the first frame of the symbol, erase
all the letters except the first. In the second
frame, erase all except the second, and so on.

Step 5 Create a second layer in the scene,
called position.

Step 6 In the position layer create a white
box, the size of your phrase, and convert it to a
graphic symbol. Make sure the box is directly
under the word.

Step 7 Run the animation.
