8The events, 22nd August 1485
- On the next morning the two armies met in the
morning on Bosworth Field. - The battle was mainly hand to hand combat.
- A powerful group of soldiers belonging to the
Stanley family, stayed out of the fighting for
some time till, at a critical moment, they joined
Henrys side. - Richard feeling betrayed cried out, "Treason,
treason!" - Richard fought as hard as he could, refusing to
leave the battle field. - Eventually he was overpowered by Henrys
supporters and he fell dead in the midst of his
enemies. - The crown was picked up on the field of battle
and placed by Sir William Stanley on the head of
Richmond, who was at once saluted king by the
whole army.
