  • Course Description Biology is the study of life
and living organisms. Topics include scientific
method, cells, how organisms interact with their
    environment, genetics, classification and the
    kingdoms of organisms. Activities include
experiments and problem solving. Students have
the opportunity to dissect different animals.
Biology I students are provided with these and
more hands on learning experiences for the
understanding of the key concepts of biology.

  • Course Description Biology is the study of life
and living organisms. Topics include life, cells,
how organisms interact with their environment,
genetics, and classification. Biology II is a
    college preparatory class. Activities include
experiments, problem solving, and paper writing.
Students will have the opportunity to dissect a
fetal pig and a dogfish shark.
  • The concepts of the scientific method are also
taught providing students with an understanding
of all of the elements of a science fair. Entry
in the science fair is required.

Ecology
  • Id like to welcome our MANY new students to
Ecology and to the Stream Team! Activities will
be much more fun with 21 students instead of 9!
I hope to have a fun and rewarding semester!

  • Course Description Ecology is the study of how
living things, plant and animal, interactive with
    their environment. Students will study
    environmental problems, science and ecological
    principles, and sustaining biodiversity.
Laboratory activities will be a part of Ecology,
as well as paper writing. Students will be
automatic members of the Missouri Stream Team,
which will involve field trips to the Cedar Gap
conservation area just outside of town.

Anatomy and Physiology
  • After the science fair projects are completed, we
    will begin muscles.
  • STUDY NIGHTLY!!!
  • Science Fair
  • If you planned on doing your project at home,
    BEGIN NOW!!
  • Science Fair at Seymour will be March 5, after
    school in the library
  • Summit Conference Science Fair is March 7, 2007
    in Conway

11
  • Course Description Students will study Anatomy
and Physiology of the human body. Anatomy and
Physiology is a college preparatory class. The
concepts of the scientific method are taught
providing students with an understanding of all
of the elements of a science fair. A science
fair project is required. This class will cover
anatomical terms, tissues, and the integumentary,
    skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory,
    circulatory, endocrine, urogenital, and nervous
systems. A cat dissection is done to help
investigate and relate the structure to its
function as it correlates to the human body. A
field trip is taken to a hospital to expose the
students to the career opportunities and working
    environments.

Physical Science
  • Study Skills Suggestions
  • Make flash cards
  • Highlight and/or Rewrite notes
  • Have someone quiz you, even over the phone
  • READ the TEXT!!
  • Come see me before or after school with questions

13
  • Course Description Physical Science is a one
year course that introduces the student to the
physical and chemical processes of the natural
world. The course examines how these processes
occur, interact, and relate to the biosphere.
Students will be involved in activities that lay
the foundation for their future studies in the
    sciences.

14
Chemistry
  • Science Fair
  • Research Paper Due Friday, December 15, 2006
  • Materials List also due Dec 15
  • Science Fair at Seymour will be the end of
    February (TBA)
  • Summit Conference Science Fair is March 7, 2007
    in Conway

15
  • Course Description Chemistry is the study of
matter. Topics include atoms, periodic law,
    bonding, chemical formulas, chemical equations,
gas laws, solutions, and acids and bases.
Emphasis is placed on experimenting and problem
solving. A science fair project is required for
    this class.

16
Physics
  • Science Fair
  • Research Paper Due Friday, December 15, 2006
  • Materials List also due Dec 15
  • Science Fair at Seymour will be the end of
    February (TBA)
  • Summit Conference Science Fair is March 7, 2007
    in Conway

17
  • Course Description The physics class will cover
the study of matter and forces that affect it.
Topics include motion, forces, momentum, waves,
    light, electricity, and magnetism.
    Problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills,
and experiments are emphasized. Knowledge of
algebra and trigonometry are required. A science
fair project is required for this class.
