Pooffer is a big, fat, orange cat. He likes
to play in the neighborhood with his friends.

One day Pooffer was walking outside in his
neighborhood. There was one house in front of
him, one house behind him, one house on the left
side of him, and another on the right side of
him.

All of those houses belonged to Pooffers
friends. Hello, said Pooffer. Hi, said
Fluffie, Leslie, and Cuddle. Weve made a
decision. We dont want to be your friends
anymore!

Why dont you want to be my friends anymore?
asked Pooffer. Because you are too fat!
they all exclaimed. Thats not very nice,
responded Pooffer. Pooffer was very sad.

When Cuddle, Fluffie, and Leslie went home,
they ate cat food all afternoon. They thought
they would stay skinny forever, but they soon
found out they were wrong. Oh no! We are fat
like Pooffer! We should still be skinny. They
began to think about the mean way they had
treated Pooffer, and they were sorry.

The next night, Pooffer was sitting in front of
his house feeling very sad and lonely. His
friends came down to the street to apologize.
What do you guys want? asked Pooffer. We
are here to apologize, his friends said. We
were very wrong to make fun of you just because
you were different. We realize that it doesnt
matter what you look like on the outside, its
what is in your heart thats important.

Will you forgive us and be our friend again?
they asked. Of course I will! replied
Pooffer. They all went to get ice cream, and
then they went to the park and played together!
