14Fabrication Progress (Good News)
- Fabrication of EMCAL support structure at Fravit
was completed in first week of February - Top and bottom outriggers welded at Fravit
- Support fork material is available at CERN.
Machining should be completed before end of March
15Shipping to CERN (Bad News)
- Shipping company was behind schedule in getting
all shipping documents approved - All documents were approved to go through Mt
Blanc tunnel on 2 March - Mt Blanc tunnel was closed to all traffic due to
rock slide on 3 March - Tunnel was opened to normal traffic 10 March
- All special traffic not allowed until full repair
is complete (could be several months) - Applied for permits to change route to Frejus
- Juggling assembly schedule at CERN to minimize
impact.
16Remaining Tasks at CERN
- Weld support forks
- Align and connect the two half frames
- Load test
- Install SM rails
- Install EMCal services
- Ready for transfer to cavern
- Once the CalFrame is at CERN, we need 8 weeks to
get ready for installtion inside L3
17Assembly Schedule based on CalFrame at CERN on 19
March
18CalFrame Installation Fixture
- Installation fixture will be used for load test,
assembly and installation

bloc
21EMCal Services on the CalFrame
- Design of service is complete
- Fabrication of cable tray started
- All cables and connectors ordered and ready for
assembly - Water cooling components are on order
- CERN techs will assemble cable trays and low
voltage cables - EMCal techs will make up and install all other
cables and cooling water tubes.

25Other Engineering Development
- Prototype SM crate fabrication is complete
- Goal is to be ready to perform a dummy SM
insertion test ( full weight) before the end of
the summer 07 - 1. CERN has steel block that could be
modified as SM dummy weight - 2. Design of platform to support SM
insertion tooling has started
