- Obesity is an excess proportion of total body
fat. A person is considered obese when their body
fat is more than or equal to 20.
3What Causes Obesity?
Consuming more calories than you burn leads to
being overweight and, eventually, obesity. The
body stores unused calories as fat.

- Eating more food than your body will put to work
- Unbalanced diet
- Drinking too much alcohol
- Not getting enough exercise
- Health conditions such as a hyperactive thyroid
- Genetic factors connected to obesity
