PTA Presidents Message Welcome back to a new
school year at Spencer Elementary. I hope that
everyone had a wonderful summer and that you are
all ready to put your thinking caps back on! A
quick note of thanks to Mr. Proffit for all he
has done for our school over the past three
years. His spirit and enthusiasm will be missed.
The PTA and I would like to extend a warm
welcome to our new principal, Mrs. Clarke. We
look forward to working with you in the upcoming
school year to make Spencer the best school that

will now be held on the 1st Wednesday of the
month. Our first meeting to be held Wednesday,
September 10th.
A message from Mrs. Clarke, Principal,
Spencer Elementary Welcome to the 2008-2009
school year!  It is with great excitement and
anticipation that I join the Spencer School
family. I have been in education for
twenty-five years, first in East Haddam and later
in New Haven.  I have been a classroom teacher,
a special education coordinator, and an
assistant principal and have worked at the
college, high school, middle school and
elementary levels.  I live in Berlin with my
husband and two children who will both be away
in college this coming year.  I am looking
forward to getting to know all of you and your
children in the coming weeks and months. The PTA
is planning many wonderful events that will make
school a special place for your children and
will give you many opportunities to actively
participate and to have fun.  Please join us!

  10, Cooks Books, 2 Entertainment Books, 25
  30 and other items to purchase.
• Our first General PTA meeting is September 10th,
  630 pm.

• Thanks to all the people who worked behind the
  scenes all summer long to ensure Spencer
  Elementary is in tip top shape for the first day
  of school. We appreciate your effort. Our hats
  off to Ms. Susan, Mr. Randy, Mr. Ron, Mr. Jim
  Mr. Bennett.

Our first fall fundraiser will begin September
8th. Keep an eye out for more information to
follow via your child's backpack..

Introductions Mary Abbate (Sounds like rabbit),
Co-President I am very excited for the upcoming
school year and my involvement with the PTA. I
have 7 year old twins, Dominic and Olivia who
will be attending 2nd grade this year at Spencer.
I enjoy long summers, warm winters and a good
cup of iced coffee, extra light and extra
sweet! Heather Haouchine , Co-President I have
seven year old triplets., Olivia, Jonathan and
Isabelle. Last year 65.4 million Americans
volunteered throughout our nation. Volunteers
like you are people who reach out to others and
in doing so, become extraordinary! As I welcome
back all Spencer School families I look forward
to an extraordinary year! Kim Karpel,
Co-Vice-President I have 3 children. Matthew 3rd
grade, Dylan 2nd grade and Justin who will be
attending kindergarten. I look forward to
meeting all of you at our PTA meetings and
events. Scott Morgan , Co-Vice-President My
named is Scott Morgan I am co-vice president of
Spencer School PTA. I would like to welcome all
the new and returning families back to the
Spencer School family. I am looking forward to an
exciting year. I would ask all families to join
me in welcoming Mrs. Clarke to Spencer School. I

Im Shaun Pusz and I am co vice president of the
Spencer School PTA. I have a third grader and a
first grader and they both love Spencer. We hope
to see all of you at our PTA sponsored events
this year. We hope that all Spencer parents will
participate in the PTA this year in the meetings
as well as volunteering at our great events. Hope
to see you there.

Janice Pawlak, Co-Secretary Hello, my name is
Janice Pawlak.  I am a co-secretary with Sheri
Viggiano.  I have two daughters at Spencer
School, Jackie and Caroline.  They will be
entering the fourth and first grades.  I am
looking forward to meeting parents at Open house
and the many other events at Spencer
School. Sheri Viggiano, Co-Secretary I'm Sheri
Viggiano and I have two daughters at Spencer. 
 Alexis will be in 4th grade and Jessica will be
entering 1st.  I am looking forward to another
great year at Spencer.
Diane Snipes, Treasurer Hi, this is my first year
as Treasurer of the Spencer PTA.  I have a
daughter, Samantha, in first grade and a son,
Joey, who is in pre-K.  I work full-time at Aetna
and I hope that everyone will find time to join
the PTA and make this a wonderful school year for
your children!  Welcome back to Spencer!
