2Step 1 Carving the Pumpkin
Safety First! Use will need a large, sharp
knife for carving the pumpkin. Make sure to have
adult help you. Remember Safety
always! Cut a large circle around the stem of
the pumpkin. The hole should large enough for
your hand to fit through easily! Scoop out the
inside stringy matter and seeds. Place on
newspaper and set aside. Continue carving the
pumpkin face or designs. Note you could draw the
face shapes and designs before carving. For more

3Step 2 The Stringy Matter
- Pull the seeds away from the stringy matter and
place in a bowl.
4Step 3 Preparing the Seeds
- Measure how many cups of seeds you collected from
the pumpkin. - Add
- 1 TBL. Oil
- 1 tsp. Salt per 1 cup of seeds
- Stir!
5Step 4 Bake in what?
- Oil a cookie sheet by using a spray oil or by
using a napkin dipped in butter and rubbed over
the pan. - Spread the seeds on the pan. Be sure to spread
the seeds out so that they are in a single layer
dont have seeds on top of one another!
6Step 5 Its getting hot in here!
- Place the seeds in a oven warmed to 200 250
degrees. - Cook until crisp about 45minuts.
7Step 6 Lets Eat!
- When the seeds are cool, you can eat the seeds.
