Title: Tour of the Solar System

1
Tour of the Solar System
  • Hunter Hammond

2
The Sun
  • The corona can be 2 million degrees. It is in the
center of the solar system. You cant get near it,
it can be 2 million degrees, it is gassy and
dusty, made of 75 hydrogen 25 helium.

3
Mercury
  • It does not have an atmosphere. Mercury is the
closest planet to the sun. At its closest it is
46 million kilometers from the sun and at its
farthest it is nearly 70 million kilometers from
the sun. It is a inner planet. It has no moons.
Mercury has craters, color is basin weird terrain
    and scarps.

4
Venus
  • The atomsphere of venus is so harsh that it is
the main reason that no one has ever been able to
make opticial observations of anything other than
the planets upper part. It is 108 million km from
the sun. It is a inner planet. It has no moons.
There are volcaneos, it is the second planet from
the sun, considered to be a twin to earth, it has
    iron, silicates water, and more.

5
Earth
  • The atomsphere of earth is 78.09 nitrogen,
    20.95 oxygen, 0.93argon, 0.039carbon dioxide
and other gases. Earth is 93 million miles from
the sun. It is a inner planet. It has no large
moon. It has humans on it, it has water on it, it
has a huge ring of gases on it, has a regular
temperature of 16 degrees, it was just water.

6
Mars
  • The atmosphere of mars is 95 carbon dioxide 3
nitrogen 1.6 argon and traces of oxygen. Mars is
228 million km from the sun. it is a inner
planet. It has two small moons. It has a reddish
hue over 3/5 of the planet, has frozen carbon
dioxide and water ice, has areas of changing
color that were once thought to correspond to
vegetation has markings that look like canals.

7
Jupiter
  • Atomsphere is mostly hydrogen and hellium
continous storms swirl on the planet the largest
is the great red spot. It is 483.78 million miles
from the sun. It is a outer planet. It has four
large moons and atleast 59 smaller moons one of
its moons IO has active volcaneos. Jupiter has a
great red spot, it also has a very unique design
and color pattern, it is the largest of 8
planets,it has a immense size, 3 earths can fit
    on it.

8
Saturn
  • Like the rest of the of the planets the
atomsphere of saturn is made up approximately 75
hydrogen and 25 hellium with trace amounts of
other substances like water ice and methane.
1433449370km from the sun sixth planet from the
sun. It is a outer planet. There are 62 moons on
saturn. Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun,
and the second largest planet in the solar
system, after jupiter, it is a gas giant and is
composed of hydrogen, with small proportions of
    helium.

9
Neptune
  • The atomsphere of neptune is similar to all the
large planets in the solar system it mostly
consists of hydrogen and helium with trace
amounts of methane, water, ammonia, and other
ices. It is 4.5 billion km from the sun. It is a
outer planet. Neptune has 13 moons the first four
are naiad thalassa despina and galatea. It is the
age of the sun 4.5 billion years, the mass is
1.0247x1026kg, neptune is smaller in diameter
than uranus, but larger in mass, first planet
found from calcutions, pluto crosses neptune in
    its orbit.

10
Uranus
  • Like the other gas giants uranus has a very thick
cloud cover and an atomsphere made up of hydrogen
helium methane ammonia. It is 1.79 billion miles
from the sun. It is an outer planet. It has 27
moons and most are named from shakespeare
characters such as juliet cordelia cupid
desemonia puck oberon and more. Five uranus moons
have icy cratered surfaces the craters show that
the moons have been hit from rocks from space
uranus moons also have lava flows the rings and
moons are on the other side.

11
Pluto
  • Pluto has thin enevlopes of nitrogen methane and
carbon monixide. 5.9 km from the sun. It is a
outer planet. It has four moons the largestis
    choron. 4.5 billion years old 5.9 km 1.27x10 22
kg has a density of about 2 times that of water
it may have a core of silicate rock.

12
Moon
  • Second densest satelitte it is a satellite of
jupiter the moon has about 1/81 the mass of earth
and is 3/5 as dense it is the 5th in the solar
    system.

13
Asteroids
  • The majority of asteroids are in the asteroid
belt it lies between 1.8 and 4.5 a.u. they appear
as stars far away no asteroid is bright enough to
see with olipitical aid there are asteroids all
    over the solar system.

14
Comets
  • It has a tale its color its orbit the orbit can
take over 200 yearsto go around the sun it is
    made of dust and ices.

15
Meteroids Meteroits
  • Small chunk of stone they create a streak of
light when they enter earths orbit they travel at
high speeds most are small in size they are made
    up of dust.
