NSF Scholarships in Science Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM)
  • Award of 499,194 over the life of the five-year
    project.
  • Up to 60 scholarships annually.
  • For academically talented and financially needy
    students who enroll full-time at CLC as
    Engineering, Computer Science and pre-Engineering
    majors.
  • P.I. Rob Twardock additional support from Amy
    Curry, Scott Reed, Chris Patrick, and Ana Mazilu

Shifting Gears
  • One of eight competitive grants from the
    ICCB/Joyce Foundation
  • 125,000 for 18 months.
  • To develop and implement a Computerized Numerical
    Control (CNC) bridge program.
  • Will provide the academic remediation and
    foundational occupational content necessary to
    become a successful CNC technician.
  • Project Coordinator will be Don Ruesch with
    assistance from Jeff Hines and Margie Porter.

Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign
Language Program (Title VI-A)
  • Highly competitive grant -- one of four community
    colleges!
  • 60,853 for year one funding.
  • Will be used to enhance and expand Chinese
    language instruction and courses.
  • Provide new and revised courses in East Asian
    Studies.
  • Offer a study abroad and faculty exchange
    programs with Xian International Studies
    University (XISU)

    would otherwise not be available).
  • Pay for new initiatives, specialized equipment,
    new staff to assist in coordination.
  • Release time from teaching.
  • Stipends.
  • Travel funds for research purposes and
    professional development.
  • Make and maintain academic relationships outside
    of the college.
  • Gain publicity and increase exposure for
    yourself, CLC, and your field of study.
  • Advance your cause even if the grant proposal is
    not funded.
