16Tips for being an Awesome Library Volunteer!!
Grades 1-5 will be bringing their library books
with them and placing them in the book return
bin. Books they want to renew will be placed on
the desk above the book drop.
Kindergarten books will need to be picked up down
by the classroom.
17Tips for being an Awesome Library Volunteer!!
- You will be Checking In the books while the
students are having their lesson. (Grades 1-5
only) Kindergarten books get checked in before
students arrive in the media center. - Directions can be found next to the check out
desk.
- IMPORTANT Watch the monitor carefully for
messages. Do NOT rely on the BEEP tone only
for a transaction.
18Tips for being an Awesome Library Volunteer!!
- After the books are checked-in and placed on the
Yellow cart, please run an Out and Overdue List
for the class. - Use the Out and Overdue List to sort the student
shelf markers. - Directions can be found in the folder.
19Tips for being an Awesome Library Volunteer!!
- Use the Out and Overdue list to sort the shelf
markers. - If the student can check out, place the shelf
marker on the circulation desk. They will pick it
up when the lesson is over.
20Tips for being an Awesome Library Volunteer!!
- Before shelving the books, please use the baby
wipes to clean off the covers. Look for sticky or
dirty spots. - Â If I am still teaching, please begin shelving
the books that have been checked-in - Take your time! If you find a messy spot on the
shelf, I would rather the books on the shelf get
put in order and you leave some books on the
yellow cart.
21Tips for being an Awesome Library Volunteer!!
- At check out time, one or two volunteers will run
the Circulation computer for book checkout. - It is important to keep the line moving along,
especially if class is ending. (For example, Mr.
Shankins class has PE after library media.) - Other volunteers can assist students in finding
books. They love the help!
- IMPORTANT Watch the monitor carefully for
messages. Do NOT rely on the BEEP tone only
for a transaction.
22Renew andSave-overnight Area
- If a student wants to renew a book, please check
it in and place it on the top shelf. - Save-Overnight Books supports students that
have overdue books students may set aside a book
