Alternative collection methods

  websites (census websites etc.)

Data collection General timeline

• Questionnaires are sent in December
• Data is requested for April
• Internal processing and follow up through summer
• Note Census questionnaires only sent after
  census took place

Collection of migration flow data

• Collected annually until 1999
• 1998 Recommendations on Statistics of
  International Migration Rev.1
• Questionnaire is adapted to the Revision and
  tested
• New questionnaire sent to all countries with the
  2005 data collection
• Results for non-European countries
• 16 replies (10 with data, 5 without data)
