  • Helping pupils literacy, numeracy and science
    through the enjoyment of games on the theme of
    plants

1. Build a plant (KS1)
  • Rules
  • Each team has a set of plant parts, and their
    labels, plus some blutak or velcro squares
  • The plant must be built (one piece at a time) on
    the board across the room
  • Each team member takes a turn to stick one part
    on the board
  • Winner is the fastest to complete the plant with
    its parts labelled correctly
  • GO!!!!!!!!!!

7. Plant Quartet What plants need to grow well
The red clover set
  • The 48 cards in the pack are made up of 12 sets
    of 4 cards.
  • Each set represents the plant of a wild flower
    and a card for each of the 4 things that it needs
    to grow well mineral salts, light, water and air
  • The object of the game is to collect as many sets
    of cards as you can

Playing Plant Quartet
  • Deal 5 cards to each player. Put the rest in a
    pile on the table
  • The person starting asks any player for a
    specific card. They must already have at least
    one card of the set they are asking for.
  • If the player asked has that card they give it
    up and the first player has another go
  • If they dont have the card the first player
    must the draw the top card from the stock-pile
    and the turn passes to the other player
  • When a player has a set of four cards it must be
    shown and placed on the table
  • The game continues until someone runs out of
    cards or the stock-pile runs out.
  • The winner is the player with most sets of cards

8. Vines and Villains
  • To start, the person with the highest thrown
    number goes first
  • You climb up the vines or slide down the slug
    trails.
  • If you land on a growth square take a card and
    try to answer the question. If you get it right
    advance 4 spaces, if wrong, go back 4 spaces.
  • You need the exact number to end at square 36
  • The first player to reach home and grown wins
