Digital TV Broadcasting Service
?
- ARABSAT was the first worldwide satellite
operator to transmit commercial digital TV
bouquet. - The Digital Bouquets are transmitted in MPEG-II
DVB standard. - The service is provided through ARABSAT 3-A
2-D( Ku band), creating a Hot Spot location at
26? East, offering High quality Direct -to-Home
digital TV transmission.
19? Direct-To-Home TV Broadcasting
Digital TV Broadcasting Service
?
- The service includes the turnaround of analog and
digital signals, already available on the
satellites that can be received in ARABSAT
Rebroadcasting Facility ( DTRF) in Tunis and
Lebanon.

- ABS KU-Band C-Band
- This service is provided on ARABSAT 2B. The rate
ranges from 64 Kb/s to 8.448 Mbit/s.
25? Domestic Network service
- ARABSAT can be used to provide different
telecommunication services through private closed
networks , connecting customer sites using small
inexpensive Earth Stations. - Typical applications
- Telephony
- Voice
- Data
- Retransmission of Radio and TV Programs
- Video Conferencing
- Tele- education
- Tele- medicine
- Remote Monitoring
26? Internet Service
- ARABSAT has introduced satellite-based Internet
Services. - ARABSAT network consists of one satellite
(ARABSAT 2B), one teleport in Europe, ISP
hardware and an extensive fiber network spanning
the globe.
27? VSAT Service
- ARABSAT uses its 2B Satellite Ku-Band, to connect
its main office with its Satellite control
stations (RiyadhTunis), and the regional
operating E/S. - The following Two topologies are used
- 1- Mesh Topology The terminal consists of 1.8
meter antenna, outdoor unit, and indoor unit. It
can handle up to 4 channels and provides the
following services - Voice (16 or 32 Kbps)
- Fax (14.4 Kbps)
- Data (9.6, 19.6, . Up to 64 Kbps)
- The system supports different types of
Terrestrial interfaces and Low rate Encoding (LRE)
28? VSAT Service
-
- 2- Star Topology
- The terminal consists of 1.8 meter antenna,
outdoor unit, and indoor unit. The system is
mainly used for data transmission . It supports
different types of data protocols using TDM/TDMA. - The out- route carrier size is 512 Kbps from HUB
to Terminals using TDM format. Each out route
carrier can support up to 32 in- route carriers. - The in-route carrier size can be 64, 128 or 256
Kbps from terminals to HUB using TDMA Format.

- APPLICATIONS
- Interconnection of Computer Centers
- Database Access
- Interconnection of LANs (Local Area Networks)
- File Transfers
- Multimedia Networks
- Client Server Applications
- Internet Access Applications
- VOIP (Voice Over IP)
30? VSAT Service
-
- Traditionally Arabsat main role was to provide
the required space capacities, testing, support
for earth station verification, validate link
budget calculation and monitor the RF carrier
parameters to maintain the quality. - However, Arabsat is ready to explore the idea of
establishing business partnership and alliance
with the interested parties.
