Youth

• Know body is really sure about who her father is
  they say it was either Iasus or Schoenius
• When her father found out that he was having a
  girl not a boy he was furious.
• He decided that she wasnt worth bringing up and
  left her on a wild mountainside to die of cold
  and hunger

• A she-bear found her and nursed her and warmed
  her
• She grew up to be a daring little girl
• Hunters found her one day and took her in to care
  for her

Atlanta vs. Centaurs

• Two Centaurs, swifter and stronger than any human
  one day attacked her
• She didnt run instead she drew her bow and arrow
  and waited for the right moment and shot two
  arrows one after another wounding both of them
  serious

Calydonian Boar

• Artemis punished the King of Calydon, Oeneus, by
  sending a terrifying boar to ruin and destroy
  everything
• Artemis punished Oeneus because he forgot her
  when he was sacrificing the first fruits to the
  gods at the harvest-time
• Oeneus finally got feed up with the boar and
  organized a hunt to kill it, he assembled all the
  best hunters in the area, Atalanta being one of
  the hunters

• Oeneus son, Meleager was also in the hunt he
  fell in love with Atalanta the minute he saw her
• Atalanta had no interest in Meleager or any other
  man for that fact.
• She thought of men only as competition in hunting

• Some of the hunters felt it was insulting to let
  a women hunt with them but Meleager insisted she
  come, so she did
• When they finally circled the boar and were ready
  to attack the boar attacked so quick killing two
  men instantly before anyone knew what was going
  on
• Other hunters rushed to the fallen hunters to
  help save them but it was to late

• Many hunters that went to help were killed also
• But Atalanta kept calm and concentrated on
  killing the boar with one quick strike she
  injured the boar and Meleager rushed in for the
  kill
• Meleager insisted on giving the boars skin to
  Atalanta and other hunters were furious

Love life

• Meleager was killed by and killed his own family
  members because of Atalanta and his love for her
• She found her real parents and went and lived
  with them and everyone man wanted to marry her
  but she didnt want to get married so she said
  that who ever can beat me in a race I will marry
  knowing that know one could beat her

• Tons of people men came to race her and not one
  of them could beat her
• A young man by the name of Melanion was smart
  enough to know that he couldnt beat her with out
  some help so he got the help of Aphrodites
• Aphrodites gave him three golden apples which
  know one could resist

• The race began and Atalanta raced past everyone
• Melanion caught up and rolled one golden apple
  directly infront of her, she stopped and picked
  it up giving Melanion time to get a head but she
  caught up immediately
• He threw the second apple to her side making her
  swerve off and go get it giving Melanion once
  again time to get ahead

• The end was very near and Melanion waited for the
  right time and threw the apple far off to the
  side into the grass and Melanion tired touched
  the goal before Atalanta did
• She married Melanion and they bore a son
  Parthenopaeus who was one of the Seven against
  Thebes.
