Title: ALEXANDER W' LESLIE
1ALEXANDER W. LESLIE
2My hometown is Enon Valley, a small rural
community in western Pennsylvania.
I live on a dairy farm several miles out of town
where my family milks about 35 cows.
3I graduated from the Mohawk High School class of
2007. Currently, I am in my second semester at
Penn State University. I am pursuing a degree in
Agricultural and Biological Engineering.
I have chosen this major because I have a strong
desire to work in the field of Agriculture,
specifically to improve the technology that is
available in the agricultural industry.
I have spent years working on my family farm as
well as a local feed mill. Over these years I
have gained an solid understanding of the
equipment, structures, and technology that I hope
to work on in the future.
4I have many education and career goals. This
summer I will take part in a six week internship
through the Adams County Cooperative Extensions
Office. This will be the first of hopefully
multiple internship/ work-study programs during
my college education. My goal is to graduate in
May of 2011 with Bachelors Degree. I plan to
major in Agricultural and Biological Engineering
with a minor in Environmental Engineering.
Upon graduating, I will enter the field of
Agricultural Engineering. I hope to find a job
dealing with either natural and environmental
resources, or agricultural structures.
5I have many hobbies that I keep myself involved
in.
Farming can be considered one of my hobbies
because I spend a lot of time working on projects
around the farm.
I spent several summers restoring a 1954 Allis
Chalmers WD45 farm tractor. I disassembled the
tractor down to the engine and transmission,
repainted, and made many necessary repairs.
I have spent years building and rebuilding a
model railroad layout with my brother. The HO
scale layout is 6 x 16. I have built several of
my own buildings from scratch.
My other hobbies include automotives,
woodworking, singing, and playing the guitar.
