24 Hour RULE
24-Hour Rule Under this requirement, manifest
information must be provided 24 hours prior to
the sea container being loaded onto the vessel in
the foreign port. CBP may deny the loading of
high-risk cargo while the vessel is still
overseas.

Container Security Initiative
  • CORE ELEMENTS
  • The four core elements of CSI
  • Identify High Risk Containers.
  • Prescreen and evaluate containers before they are
    shipped.
  • Use technology to prescreen high risk containers
to ensure that screening can be done rapidly
without slowing down the movement of trade.
  • Use smarter, more secure containers, to identify
containers that have been tampered with during
    transit.

GOALS 58 OPERATIONAL PORTS BY THE END OF 2007 At
that time 90 percent of all transatlantic and
transpacific cargo imported into the United
States will be subject to prescreening.
