In the gym!!!
As the daughter of two Olympic gymnasts who
became gymnastics coaches themselves it was only
natural that Nastia found herself in the gym from
a very young age. Unable to afford a babysitter
Valeri and Anna were forced to bring Nastia to
the gym while they worked. The gym was the ultim
ate playground, " I WAS ALWAYS RUNNING AROUND AND
ON THE BARS, AND THAT'S how I KIND OF GOT
STARTED," she remembers.

How did she start?
Soon Nastia began mimmicking the other children
in the gym even copying and performing their
floor routines at the side of the gym.
Her parents aware of just how tough the sport can
be, never intended for Nastia to become a
gymnast. It was difficult to ignore her talent a
nd her desire to be involved in gymnastics.
Nastia began competing earlier than most at the
age of six. By the time she was 12 years old,
Nastia was an Elite gymnast.

Leisure time
On Nastias leisure time she likes to read, go
swimming, play on her phone, and talk to her
friends. Sometimes she likes to go down to the
gym and do some extra tumbling. She also enjoys
acting and appeared in the movie STICK IT.

GOING FOR THE GOLD
In the 2008 Olympics Nastia won
Nine world championship medals.
Of this seven of them are individual.

Can you guess what kind of dog Nastia has? Well,
I guess I can tell you. ITS A Mutt!!! He is
brown with lots of fur. He has very big ears and
his eyes are blue.

Accomplishments

• won nine world championship medals
• tied with the 1996 Olympic balance beam champion
  Shannon Miller as having won the most of any
  American gymnast
  
• won four consecutive United States all-around
