2
What you need now
  • Proof of identity. Most states require anywhere
from two to three forms of identity.
  • Proof of residency.
  • Social Security number.
  • Eye-examination.
  • Payment of a fee, which varies from state to
state and can be anywhere from 10 to 45.
  • Permit or proof that you have learned some steps
    to drive.

3
It should be harder
  • Why?
  • Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of
    death for teenagers.
  • Inexperience behind the wheel is the leading
    cause of teenage crashes.
  • Statistics show that 16 and 17-year-old driver
death rates increase with each additional
    passenger (IIHS).
  • 16 year-olds have higher crash rates than drivers
    of any other age.

6
The Need for Graduated Driver Licensing
  • Some states have already started some form of
Graduated Driver Licensing and we need it all
    across America.

7
What is Graduated Driver Licensing?
  • The teen must hold a Learner's Permit at least 3
to 6 months before taking test for an Operator's
    Driving License.
  • During the first 3-6 months after obtaining an
Operators driving license, a new teen driver
cannot drive with other teens in the car.
  • Teen driver runs the risk of losing his/her
    license for some violations.

8
Why is GLD good?
  • An adult with a valid drivers license is always
in the passenger seat showing the beginner how to
    drive.
  • Before even taking a test they have plenty of
    experience behind the wheel.

9
Benefits
  • Expanding the learning process
  • Reducing risk exposure
  • Improving driving proficiency
  • Enhancing motivation for safe driving.

10
Save our Children and
