- Proof of identity. Most states require anywhere
from two to three forms of identity.
- Proof of residency.
- Social Security number.
- Eye-examination.
- Payment of a fee, which varies from state to
state and can be anywhere from 10 to 45.
- Permit or proof that you have learned some steps
to drive.
3It should be harder
- Why?
- Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of
death for teenagers.
- Inexperience behind the wheel is the leading
cause of teenage crashes.
- Statistics show that 16 and 17-year-old driver
death rates increase with each additional
passenger (IIHS).
- 16 year-olds have higher crash rates than drivers
of any other age.

5Three Main Reasons Teens are Bad Drivers
- Inexperience
- Risk-taking behavior and immaturity
- Greater risk exposure
6The Need for Graduated Driver Licensing
- Some states have already started some form of
Graduated Driver Licensing and we need it all
across America.
7What is Graduated Driver Licensing?
- The teen must hold a Learner's Permit at least 3
to 6 months before taking test for an Operator's
Driving License.
- During the first 3-6 months after obtaining an
Operators driving license, a new teen driver
cannot drive with other teens in the car.
- Teen driver runs the risk of losing his/her
license for some violations.
8Why is GLD good?
- An adult with a valid drivers license is always
in the passenger seat showing the beginner how to
drive.
- Before even taking a test they have plenty of
experience behind the wheel.
