The Calm Before the Storm
  • You will begin by writing a short journal entry
about personal experiences, how you feel or what
    interests you about natural disasters.
  • After the journal entry we will have a short
discussion as a class on your journal entries.
  • You will then be expected to define this list of
    terms in your own words.

The Disaster Begins
  • For this project, you will be researching an area
of natural disasters to present to the class.
You will be in groups of 4-5 that I have already
    assigned you to.
  • Your group must explain to the class what your
natural disaster is and in your presentation
answer the questions in the link provided on your
resource page. I have included a list of things
you need to have in your presentation along with
some suggestions on how you could present.
  • Come tell me when your group has chosen a topic,
the choices are linked below. Have Fun!

The Aftermath
  • Presenting
  • Presentations will be turned in on Monday by the
end of the class period. Students will volunteer
when they want to give their presentations on
Monday. Students will have the option of
presenting Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (two
groups per day). If students do not volunteer
the teacher will choose which groups will present
    on each day.

The Aftermath
  • Take Notes
  • During each presentation students will take
notes. At the end of the presentations students
will write a brief reaction to the presentations
given on that day. These summaries will be
turned in at the end of the class period.
  • Friday
  • Class will watch videos about natural disasters.
  • The class will discuss possible effects that
    natural disasters may cause.
