Cultivating Psilocybe Caerulescens

Growing your own Psilocybe caerulescens is cheap
and easy. The key is to be prepared and to know
what youre doing ahead of time. This magic
shrooms cultivation method, or tek, uses ½ pint
off canning jars or drinking glasses, a substrate
of vermiculite, brown rice flour, water, and
Psilocybe Caerulescens spores.
3
By growing Psilocybe caerulescens indoors, you
will be able to create and control conditions for
the mushrooms to grow. You will also minimize
risk of contamination. Always remember to wash
your hands with antibacterial soap before and
after working. Keep the place where you do the
inoculation dry, and free from dust. Dirty hands
and a dirty environment will attract unwanted
microorganisms which can destroy your cultivation
project.
4
For this method, you will need the following
materials
Vermiculite it is made from the
naturally-occurring mineral, mica. Its available
in different grades but for Psilocybe
caerulescens cultivation, the middle grade is the
most suitable.
1
Brown Rice Flour (BRF) This is available in
health food shops. Its best to keep it cool and
dry because it can easily turn rancid due to its
husk content.
2
Water Its not enough to simply use tap water.
When preparing the substrate, remember to use
drinking quality water.
3
5
For this method, you will need the following
materials
Spore Syringe You can purchase 10cc-12cc
suspension of mushrooms spores from the internet.
The color of the suspension will vary based on
the amount of spores in the solution but its
usually translucent to slightly violet.
4
5
Jars The jars should have 240mL capacities. The
only required is they shouldnt have narrow necks
so you can easily slide the cake out of it once
its colonized. Bigger jars take longer to fully
colonize.
6
Procedure
Put the required amount of vermiculite for all
the jars in a bowl. Pour water slowly while
stirring with a spoon. Make sure you dont
overwater the vermiculite and youre only putting
in as much water as it can absorb.
1
Place the required amount of BRF into the wet
vermiculite and mix it in with the spoon. The
goal is to uniformly coat the wet vermiculite
with a layer of BRF.
2
Fill the mixture in jars up to ½ inch beneath the
brim. Keep it airy and loose to provide optimum
conditions for the mycelium to grow.
3
7
Procedure
Fill up the jar with vermiculite to the top to
hinder airborne contaminants from reaching the
underlying substrate.
4
Take a 12cm wide strip of aluminum foil, and fold
it in the middle. Put the foil over the opening
of the jar. If youre using jars with lids, poke
4 holes at the very edge of each lid with a small
nail and hammer and screw the lid on. The holes
should be slightly bigger than the diameter of
the syringe needle.
5
8
Procedure
Take a piece of foil measuring 55 inches and put
it over the first two layers leaving the edges of
the foil reaching down since it has to be lifted
again during the inoculation. So now you have 3
layers of foil over the opening. The top layer
can be lifted during the inoculation.
6
7
Sterilize the big jar using a pressure cooker.
Steam the jars for 45 minutes in a pot with the
lid on. Use approximately 2 inches of water at
the bottom.
8
Take the jars out and let them cool.
