Adding Course Content (files) to your D2L Site

Go to your Course Home screen
You are on the course home page

Click on Content on the main navigation bar
Click here to go to Content

Now click on Add Module(adding a module
adding a folder)

Now type in the title of your module and hit the
Save button

This takes you to the Content Management area
( authoring area for your site)
Theres the module you just created!

To add a topic ( a file for the students to
see) click on the add topic icon
This is the add topic icon

Youll get a screen that asks where you want to
get your file from
Typically, youll be uploading it from your own
computer

So click on Upload New File
This is the screen you will see

Type in a title (this is the link the students
will click on to see the file)
Heres the title

Now click on the browse button
Heres the browse button

A new popup window will appear
This is a window to your own computer

Find the file you want to put on D2Land click on
it
This is my course syllabus

Now click on open
Heres the open button

Now youre back at the main add topic screen
from Slide 10
Notice that now the file pathname is filled in
next to the browse button

Click on the save button
Heres the save button

A new popup window appears (this is your file
manager area on D2L)

Now just click on the save button in the file
manager area
Heres the save button to click on

D2L will upload the file from your own computer,
save it in the D2L file manager, and put you back
in the manage content area
You can see that now youve added a topic (
file) to your module

Now click on Content on the main navigation bar
to see what youve accomplished as your students
will see it
Click on Content

And now youve got a module ( folder) with a
topic ( file) in it for your students to see
And heres your topic (your students click on the
underlined blue title)
Heres your module

You can now continue the process by clicking on
either add module or add topic again
Click here to add another module
Click here to add another topic
