Introduction

• Solid Modeling Computer-Aided Design is a
  Two-Semester Course Series Offered by the
  Mechanical Engineering Dept
• We believe in giving students the modern software
  design tools currently used by working engineers
• This is done right away -
• In the first two semesters of their curriculum

What We Teach

• The tools include
• Pro/Engineer
• Pro/Mechanica
• Pro/Manufacturing
• MasterCAM
• SolidWorks
• CosmosWorks
• - which are used in local industry
• With these tools, we create computer models of
  parts, assemblies and their respective
  documentation
• These models can be used from the idea stage of
  design right through analysis, manufacturing and
  sales

Why We Do It

• These tools are used throughout the ME curriculum
  in which we integrate theory with these and other
  practical skills
• Our goal is to produce competent engineers for
  todays modern workforce
• Because they can be productive on the first day
  of work, many of our students attain internships
  and jobs early -
• Long before they graduate
