Millennial Generation
  • Born 1980-1995
  • This is the first generation to come of age after
    the ADA
  • They have always had elevators, ramps, accessible
    buses
  • In previous generations students with
    disabilities were not main streamed- this
    Millennial generation does not understand work
    place discrimination because they were not
    segregated during school
  • Tech savvy- grew up with computers, cell phones,
    accessible technology
  • Hardworking and have tools to use to connect with
    each other
  • Strong parent advocates- helicopter parents

  • Connect to groups and create groups-
  • i.e. Northern VA Ticket to Work group
  • High School students can join this group and you
    can send out invites to events

  • Have them set up YOUR organization or individual

  • Find out other communication tools they use
  • Blogs, e-mail blasts, Yahoo groups, LinkedIn
  • Have your youth connect with each other
  • Its a support network!
  • They NEED to communicate with each other
  • Their generation is collaborative and they enjoy
    cooperative activities
  • Hire a youth to help youth!
