    to constantly improve safety accomplished

  • Three year average commercial accident rate
  • of 0.22 per 100,000 departures
  • Reduction in accidents in Alaska
  • Decline in runway incursions, including
  • most serious runway incursions

  • Goal to work with local governments and airspace
    users to provide airspace system capacity that
    meets projected demand in environmentally sound
    manner addressed by
  • Adding new airport runways which has a direct
    impact on increasing capacity to include Houston
    and Orlando
  • Working with carriers serving major metropolitan
    areas and corridors that most affect total system
    delays such as carriers serving Chicago OHare

    civil aerospace system in environmentally sound
    manner accomplished through
  • Three new bilateral agreements with Brazil,
    Singapore, and Iceland
  • Increased technical and financial assistance to
    developing countries - Helping Afghanistan and
    Iraq rebuild aviation systems
  • Collaboration with ICAO to ensure adoption of
    economically sound environmental standards
