Job Description
  • Represent the THOMSON Groups image throughout
    the Area
  • Report to an Area Export Director to THOMSON
    Management back-office based in Hong-Kong
  • Commit to an annual budget
  • Present, promote distribute all Thomson
    products (Alcatel, GE THOMSON phones) to local
    customers / partners
  • Follow-up after-sales
  • Logistics
  • Invoicing payment
  • Technical issues
  • Prospect new potential customers
  • Get market information (sales volume, competition
    benchmark, tenders, technical innovation)
    forward it to direct Management Product
    Management

4 days with an Area Export Manager (1/2)
  • Day 1 (usually Sunday)
  • 8pm go to the Airport
  • 9pm 11pm wait for the flight
  • 11pm 6pm (local time) night flight to
    destination (average 6 hours flight)
  • Day 2 (Monday)
  • 8am arrival _at_ the hotel
  • 8am 10am check-in, shaving/shower
  • 10am 2pm meeting with the first partner
    (Purchasing Manager, General Manager, Sales team)
  • Business update (sell-in, sell-out, general
    market information)
  • New products presentation
  • Get orders!
  • 2pm 3pm lunch
  • 3pm 8pm visit of stores (selling your
    products or not), meeting with the partners
    customers
  • 8pm 10pm dinner with the partner his sales
    team
  • 10pm - 11pm notes report (not to forget
    anything)
  • 11pm sleeping beauty

  • Day 3 (Tuesday)
  • 730am wake-up
  • 8am 9am breakfast, sometimes with a partner or
    a local contact
  • 9am hotel check-out
  • 9am 10pm same as Day 2, with a second partner
  • 11pm flight check-in
  • Day 4 (Wednesday)
  • 1am 6am night flight back to Paris
  • 7am back home
  • 7am 10am home rest
  • 10am 7pm (at home or office, depending if
    meetings at the office)
  • Meeting minutes
  • Orders registration
  • Forward meeting minutes market information to
    the Area Director, Back-office, Product Managers,
    Marketing Manager Customer Care Manager (if
    technical issues)

  • Relationships to develop with THOMSON Sales,
    Back-Office, Logistics, Products, Marketing,
    Quality Finance departments
  • Be open strongly minded
  • Can experience some shocking experiences (ie.
    Muslim habits)
  • Can see poor countries with low level of life
    (ie. African countries)
  • Enjoy traveling
  • Be in a good shape to support high level of
    tiredness
  • Ready not to have a normal social life
