• Born in Tarsus (Modern-day Turkey)
• Born into Roman Empire
• Family had some money
• Educated in Jerusalem

• Hard to pinpoint dates on his life

Sauls 1st Religion Specialty

• Born Jewish Saul was his Jewish name
• Supposedly one of the people who was present at
  the martyrdom of St. Stephen
• St. Stephen is considered the 1st martyr (Acts
  68-760)
• Chief Priest gave Saul permission to go
  suppress Christianity in Damascus

Sauls Reformation

• On the Road to Damascus, saw a blinding light.
• Heard Jesus ask Why thou persecutest me?
• Blinded Led (By God) to Ananias
• On regaining his sight, was immediately baptized
  and began preaching

• Arguably the Person that made Christianity a
  full-blown religion instead of a Jewish Sect
• Often chose companions for his trips, usually
  Barnabas, Mark, Silas, Timothy, or Titus

• Went from city to city
• Preached in synagogues and marketplaces
• Founded churches
• Waited until churches were strong
• Moved on to next city

1st Missionary Journey

• Started at Antioch
• Cyprus, Pamphylia, and Derbe were among first
  stops
• Around AD 50 Council to decide if Christianity
  was to be a Jewish sect
• Paul strongly opposed those who wanted to be a
  Jewish sect.

2nd 3rd Missionary Journeys

• Accompanied by Silas
• Founded 2 of the greatest churches at Philippi
  and Salonica
• Persecuted almost murdered in Philippi
• His 2 year stay in Ephesus was very successful
• Finished his writings here
• Arrested in Jerusalem for provoking a riot
