Unit 2 diaries
In this unit we can read Tinas diary and
Marys diary. The students will be reminded
of some aspects such as simple and compound
sentences, conjunctions used to join clauses to
make compound sentences, expressing emotions and
opinions and expressions of time.
16
Pay attention Diaries usually start with the
date In diaries, events are usually written in
the order they happened. A simple sentence has
only one clause. A clause is a group of words
that has meaning and includes one verb or verb
group. Many sentences may contain two or more
clauses. The writing can be more interesting
by having both short and long sentences in it.
17
In the writing some conjunctions are used to
make it more lively and, but, or, nor ,so, and
so, and then , either or, neithernor, not
only but also
Diaries are often written in the past tense.

the MOOK PARK and MORNINGTON.
Language focus 1 Factual adjectives 2

The features of information reports
  • Sentences have one main clause and one or more
other clauses that add more detail to the main
    clause.
  • Complex sentences are very useful because they
make the text more accurate and interesting by
    adding extra details.
  • Using different types of sentences makes the
writing flow better and often makes the meaning
    clearer.
  • Sentences are often in the present tense.

20
How to write information reports
1 group together all the information about the
same topic that is easier for readers to
understand 2 start a new paragraph when a new
paragraph is begun. 3 topic sentences are usually
,but not always, the first sentence in the
paragraph 4 link paragraphs together so that the
whole text flows logically from one paragraph to
the next
