Title: We Should Live Soberly

1
We Should Live Soberly
2
Titus 211-14 NKJV
  • For the grace of God that brings salvation has
    appeared to all men,
  • teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly
lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and
    godly in the present age,
  • looking for the blessed hope and glorious
appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus
    Christ,
  • who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us
from every lawless deed and purify for Himself
His own special people, zealous for good works.

3
Sober or Silly
  • Right Mind
  • Serious
  • Free From Intoxicants
  • Self-Controlled
  • Circumspect
  • Wrong Mind
  • Silly
  • Intoxicated
  • Out of Control
  • Naive

4
GOD wants His children to be sober!
  • Bishops (1 Timothy 32 Titus 18)
  • Wives of the Leaders (1 Timothy 311)
  • Aged Men (Titus 22)
  • Aged Women Teach the Younger Women (Titus 24)
  • Young Men (Titus 26)
  • One Another (2 Corinthians 513)

5
Wisdom calls aloud!
  • Wisdom calls aloud outside She
raises her voice in the open squares.
  • She cries out in the chief concourses, At the
openings of the gates in the city She speaks her
    words
  • How long, you simple ones, will
    you love simplicity? For
scorners delight in their scorning, And fools
    hate knowledge.
  • Proverbs 120-22 NKJV

6
Who are these people?
  • The Simple
  • Believe anything, examine nothing.
  • Gullible, easily led astray.
  • Blank look on their face.
  • The Scoffers
  • Think they know everything.
  • Laugh and sneer.
  • The Fools
  • Not low IQ or poor education.
  • Choose to be ignorant.

7
What does wisdom say?
  • How long?

8
What if I dont pick up?
  • Wisdom will laugh and mock in my time of need
    (126-27).
  • Wisdom will not answer, will not be found in my
    time of need (128).
  • I will reap what I sow (131).

9
Without Excuse!
  • For since the creation of the world His
invisible attributes are clearly seen, being
understood by the things that are made, even His
eternal power and Godhead, so that they are
    without excuse (Romans 120 NKJV)

10
Without Excuse!
  • Creation (Psalm 191-6)
  • The Word (Psalm 197-11)
  • Christ (John 118)
  • The Church (Ephesians 122-23)

11
Free to Choose!
  • Listen (Psalm 191)
  • See (Hebrews 29)
  • Enlightened (John 19)
  • Make Him Known (Ephesians 39-11)

12
Go deeper!
  • Go deeper into your relationship with GOD through
Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
  • the unsearchable riches of Christ (Ephesians
    38)
  • Unsearchable cannot be comprehended!

13
The Difference This Makes
  • The Devil
  • Be sober, be vigilant because your adversary
the devil walks about like a roaring lion,
seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 58 NKJV)
  • The End
  • But the end of all things is at hand therefore
be serious and watchful in your prayers. (1
    Peter 47 NKJV)

14
Hear the Conclusion!
  • And do this, knowing the time, that now it is
high time to awake out of sleep for now our
salvation is nearer than when we first believed.
  • The night is far spent, the day is at hand.
Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness,
and let us put on the armor of light.
  • Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in
revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and
lust, not in strife and envy.
  • But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no
provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
  • Romans 1311-14 NKJV
