Gods Preparation
  • Woman Hannah gracious
  • Scripture 1 Samuel 1-210
  • Application God takes us through seasons of
    preparation in advance of His promotion!

Hannahs Circumstance
  • Her womb was closed
  • She had a rival, who provoked her, and made
    Hannah miserable
  • This happened year after year!
  • She wept and did not eat
  • She made a vow the God
  • She was misunderstood and judged
  • She stood her ground
  • God gave her a son - Samuel

A Closer Look
  • Hannahs inability to conceive was considered a
    curse.
  • This brought pain to Hannah
  • She had a rival, or adversary Elkanahs other
    wife.
  • Rival means enemy or oppressor
  • This adversary was right in the family!

A Closer Look
  • Hannah was provoked by Penninah
  • Provoked the stirring up of the heart to a
    heated condition, which turns to anger, from hurt
    feelings.
  • She was provoked to the point of misery
  • Misery or fret to be violently agitated to
    irritate with anger.

Her Action
  • First Response she wept and refused to eat.
  • Her second response she prayed from the anguish
    of her soul
  • Her heart was fixed on the Lord as her solution.
  • She made a vow with the Lord of hosts.
  • He is Jehovah-Saboath, the God of the heavenly
    host of warring angels, and of the earthly host
    of warring intercessors!

Her Initial Result
  • Hannah is misunderstood by the priest Eli to be
    drunk!
  • He judges her and commands her.
  • Sin affected Elis discernment
  • Hannah stands her ground as she corrects Eli.
  • He then blesses her request of the Lord.

Her Ultimate Result
  • She gives birth to a son, Samuel
  • When the time is right, she brings him to the
    house of the Lord.
  • She rejoices and praises God with her prayer 1
    Samuel 210

Application
  • Some of us have had attacks and oppression come
    from within our family
  • Those attacks have gone on a long time
  • It can bring pain, doubt, fear, or confusion in
    our lives
  • It becomes easy to lose our sense of direction
  • We may react in the flesh

Application
  • God says, I AM with you!
  • Turn your heart toward Him.
  • Stand our ground, no matter how long it seems to
    us.
  • Receive the character of Christ being formed in
    us.
  • The initial result may not be what we wanted.
  • The final result will be MORE than what we wanted!

Appropriating Hannahs Prayer
  • We rejoice in the Lord
  • The Lord is the God of knowledge
  • Even the barren has borne seven!
  • He will guard the feet of His saints

Being in Position

  • Application God desires us to be in the right
    position when He is moving.

  • Anna was an 84 year old prophetess
  • She had long been a widow
  • She served God in the temple
  • She served Him with fasting and prayer
  • She served Him night and day

Meanwhile.
  • During these years of service to the Lord, Anna
    developed
  • Steadfastness
  • Consistency
  • Thankfulness and joy
  • Seasoning
  • Humility
  • Faith
  • Maturity

The Position of Waiting
  • Anna was in the position of thankful waiting upon
    the Lord, and remaining in the temple.
  • Wait qawah in Hebrew means to bind together by
    twisting to collect expect await hope.
  • Waiting literally means to be held back by being
    bound related to the word cord.

A Three-Fold Cord
  • Ecc. 412 A three fold cord is not quickly
    broken.
  • Anna was restrained, bound, to God, in expectant
    hope of seeing the Messiah!
  • She shared this hope with Simeon.

In That Instant
  • The moment arrived and Anna was there.
  • She came in that instant that right time.
  • Her position of waiting in the temple with
    expectant hope resulted in her witness to Jesus.
    Anna held a Son.

Application
  • We are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
  • What is our position?
  • Are we waiting with expectant hope for what God
    has promised?
  • Are we bound to the Lord and united with each
    other as we wait for that instant?

  • Ruth was a Moabitess
  • Her husband had died
  • She was with his sister-in-law and mother-in law
  • Naomi encouraged the young women to turn back
  • Orpah did turn back Ruth remained with Naomi.
  • Ruth understood she was a daughter.

  • She gains the favor of Boaz
  • She gleans abundantly

The Redemption is Gods Promotion
  • Ruth and Boaz have a son Obed
  • Obed is the father of Jesse
  • Jesse is the father of David
  • Jesus, our Redeemer, comes from this family line!

Application
  • God promotes us!
  • Promotion kabed in Hebrew meaning honored,
    glorified, rewarded. It has a connotation of
    weightiness.
  • We come to our Father as children we leave His
    presence as daughters.

  • God wants to promote us to being Daughters of
    Zion.
  • This is defined as the continuing of the house
    the company the village.
  • Jesus spoke of the daughters of Zion in Mt. 215
    and John 1215

Zion
  • Zion is a place (highest point) and a symbol of
    Gods rulership, kingship and worship
  • Heb. 1218-24 we have come to Mt. Zion and
    the city of the living God, the heavenly
    Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels.

A Daughter of Zion
  • She knows she has a Daddy in heaven!
  • She loves the place of worship, rulership, and
    kingship
  • She accesses the heavenly places and receives the
    spiritual blessings!

  • See that you do not refuse Him who speaks.

  • Hear Him
  • Accept Him and His Word
  • Apply it as He directs
  • Walk in the favor of the Lord!
