writing consultants. You send in your writing,
and we send back comments to help you revise your

How does a consultation work?
  • The Boise State Writing Center consultants strive
to dialogue with you about your writing.
  • If you are having trouble beginning the
assignment, the consultant will brainstorm with
    you.
  • The consultant, as a reader, will ask you
questions about the paper, discuss suggestions
for revision, talk about mechanics, and identify
    errors.
  • The consultant can help you develop strategies to
    proofread your own papers.
  • The consultant serves as an interested reader
    rather than just an editor.

6
How does a consultation work?
  • Consultations can be scheduled for ½ an hour to
    an hour.
  • A lot can be accomplished in a ½ hour. An hour
is recommended if you have two separate
assignments or more than five pages.
  • You can always make another appointment.
  • You can schedule weekly consultations (same
    consultant/different consultant).

7
Tips for a successful consultation
  • Schedule your appointment 3-4 days before your
assignment is due to allow for revisions.
  • Bring an extra copy of your paper.
  • Bring a copy of the assignment.
