Mission Statement
  • Support the mission of Student Affairs by
enhancing the classroom activities of students.
  • These programs help to develop the whole
    student through participation in cultural,
    social, recreational and leadership
    opportunities.
  • Students are provided the structure and guidance
to learn, develop and apply their interest and
    skills.

5
Initiative One
  • Increase Campus Recreation Space

6
Initiative One (cont)
  • Rationale
  • The student population has increased
    approximately 400 and four intercollegiate
sports have been added since the Lifetime Sports
    Complex was built in 1981
  • Method
  • Work with committee to present a plan to the Long
Range Planning Committee to upgrade and build new
facilities to accommodate the needs of the
    general student population, physical
    education/recreation and athletics.

7
Initiative One (cont)
  • Cost
  • Approximately 20 million funded from PECO funds

8
Initiative Two
  • Establish a permanent half time position to
    handle Student Conduct

9
Initiative Two (cont)
  • Rationale
  • The area of discipline has become increasingly
complex due to the numerous court cases and the
addition of new laws governing the process.
Therefore, the judicial process on campus has
become much more time consuming over the last
several years. The philosophy of the College is
to use the disciplinary process to be a positive
factor in student development. Therefore, the
staff handling the proceedings must have the
Learning College Philosophy and the ability to
    implement the philosophy

10
Initiative Two (cont)
  • Method
  • Chuck Lee is now OPS in his eighth year at 15
hours per week. In establishing this position,
there would be an increase of 5 hours per week in
assistance to handle the discipline cases
  • Cost
  • Current cost is approximately 15,000. By
    establishing the permanent position, the
increased cost would require about 10,000 in
additional money to the Campus Life budget
  • Currently this position is being funded by the
Student Government but would recommend funding
    through the College budget

11
Initiative Three
  • Leadership Development Program

12
Initiative Three (cont)
  • Rationale
  • Leadership development is a critical component of
    the Learning College. Leadership development
makes a positive, immediate impact on the lives
of the students involved in the program. There
has been much attention recently nation wide in
the area of Leadership Development and TCC is
normally on the cutting edge of trends and should
    continue to lead.

13
Initiative Three (cont)
  • Method
  • The framework has been established this year for
a total program in Leadership Development for
both individuals and student organizations. With
the renewal of the Preparing Future Leaders
Scholarship and additional resources through the
newly introduced framework, the number of
students taking advantage of these opportunities
    should double

14
Initiative Three (cont)
  • Cost
  • 10,000 from Campus Life budget and a commitment
    to renew the scholarship offerings
