What is multimedia
  • Multimedia is the combination of the following
    elements text, color, graphics, animation,
    audio, and video.
  • Multimedia software - refers to any
    computer-based presentation or application
    software that uses multimedia elements
  • Interactive multimedia - describes a multimedia
    application that accepts input from the user by
    means of a keyboard, voice, or a pointing device
    such as a mouse and performs an action in
    response

  • Text - consists of characters that are used to
    create words, sentences, and paragraphs
  • Graphics - digital representations of non text
    information such as a drawing, chart, or
    photograph (visual learners)
  • Animation - graphics that have illusions of
    motion
  • Audio - any digitized music, speech, or other
    sound
  • Video - consists of photographic images that are
    played back at speeds of 15 to 30 frames per
    second and provide appearance of real-time
