This symposium is to celebrate the bicentenary of
the Geological Society of London and the
substantial contributions of H.H. Read and W.S.
Pitcher towards understanding Granites. Both
men undertook a significant part of their career
in the Department of Geology, now the Department
of Earth and Ocean Sciences, in the University of
Liverpool.
