  • In our time, there are danger signs that point to
    an individual's falling
  • disinterest worldliness spasmodic
    attendance shallowness.
  • B. But if Uzziah were here with us now, he would
    not fit that mold (he would be interested, pure,
    present, and deep in his thinking)
  • C. He did at least three things that are
    commendable
  • 1.He followed the footsteps of his godly
    father - 263-4.
  • 2.He served God from his youth - 264 Ecc
    121 Jas 414.
  • 3.As a man, he did what was right in the
    sight of God - 265a.
  • D. God rewarded Uzziah for his righteousness.
  • 1.Prospered him with gifts from the Hand of God -
    265.2.He was protected from his foes -
    267,15.3.Clearly, he was given intelligence and
    wisdom - cf Ecc 226a.
  • E.In all, this is a great story to this point He
    seems, like David, to be "a man after God's
    Heart," But not sothere is a flaw, a blemish.

1.Some teach it is impossible to fall but Uzziah
did fall - 2616a.2.The eleventh king of Judah
reigned 52 years - 261-3. a. He developed an
army, and brought prosperity to the Nation -
266-15. b. And we would give him high marks
for his original devotion to God.

2.THE STORY OF UZZIAH'S FAILURE. A.Note Apostasy
usually is not something that happens
overnight. B.Uzziah's attitude gradually changed
until he no longer considered it necessary to
depend on God for guidance - 2Ch 2616-19a. C.He
took liberty with God's Word by doing something
that had not been authorized in the Word -
2Ch 2618 Ex 281 cf Isa 662. 1.Simple
silence condemned his action - Heb 714.
2.His act described as "trespass" (sin) should
alert us to this dangerous attitude - Pro
306.D.Uzziah failed to heed correction - 2Ch
2618-19a.E.God's vengeance came upon him (it is
always sure to come to those who disrespect
the Father) - 2Ch 2619b-21 cf Heb 1026-31.

CONCLUSION1.See our need for continued
sanctification - Jn 1717 cf Rev 2012,15.2.As
death finds us, so will the Judgment -- We should
start right, live right, and die right (trace
those steps backward) - Ac 238,42 Rev 1413.
