- Founded in Pakistan in 1995 to assist Afghan
women and children - Serves 200,000 women and children annually

rights and leadership, and skills and
professional training.

28What is MicroCredit ?
The extension of very small loans to those
outside the normal banking system.
29 A US10 loan is given to a poor woman to
purchase a goat and feed it. She cares for the
goat, fattens it, sells it for a profit, and puts
some of the money into savings and uses the
remainder to buy shoes so her daughter can attend
school.
