  • Poor circulation is extremely common, and becomes
    increasingly likely the older we become. Most of
    this is due to the way we live our lives in the
    modern world. We are much more sedentary than our
    ancestors, for which these human bodies were
    designed.
  • Other factors play a role too, for instance, we
    are able to keep warm more easily than they were,
    and this affects circulation too. There are many
    reasons why modern life impacts on blood
    circulation, so lets explore these in more
    depth, and at the same time, provide you with
    some helpful solutions.

  • Problem 1 Dehydration
  • Many people fail to realise that dehydration
    causes poor circulation. However, when you stop
    and think about it, it makes perfect sense. When
    you are dehydrated, your blood volume goes down
    this in turn decreases blood pressure, which in
    turn means that the heart has to work harder to
    pump the blood around the body.

  • So, one way that you can help to increase blood
    circulation is by drinking more, or eating
    water-rich foods, such as cucumbers, tomatoes,
    and celery.

  • Problem 2 Lack of Movement
  • When you sit or lie down, your body undergoes a
    number of physiological changes. One of these is
    to slow everything down. It thinks that you're
    inactive, and so it tries to conserve energy.
    This was useful 50,000 years ago, but not
    anymore. Today, we sit down a lot, and that means
    our bodies are very much slowed down. If you feel
    sluggish a lot of the time, just ask yourself how
    often you sit down. You should be getting up at
    least once an hour and having a quick walk
    around.

  • So, if you suffer from poor circulation, and you
    sit or lie down a lot, the solution is to get up
    and move around a bit more. Remember, your body
    will tell you that it doesnt want to get up
    again, but thats all part of evolution, and once
    you're up, you can get things moving again. Lack
    of movement can be improved the most by doing
    aerobic exercise. You can also try taking a
    supplement, such as aerobic oxygen, but clearly,
    this should be in conjunction with additional
    exercise.

  • Problem 3 a Lack of Nutrient-Rich Foods
  • If you have poor circulation, then its highly
    likely that you have problems with your diet. In
    particular, you probably eat a high-calorie/nutrie
    nt-deficient diet. Certain foods, especially
    garlic and chilli, can massively improve your
    circulation, so work these into your diet.
