Generalized anxiety disorder affects about 6.8
million adults in the United States, and that
does not include the people who suffer from
social anxiety, panic disorder, and specific
phobias. We live in an anxious society, and the
problem is getting progressively worse. Why is
this, and what can be done about it? One thing to
note is that despite the severity and prevalence
of the problem, most people don't get the help
they need for it. They simply suffer through it,
hoping it will go away on its own. Sometimes it
does, but often it continues to be a chronic
medical condition that affects the quality of
life and even physical health. If you are
consumed by anxiety, you can find help with

Struggling With Stress
This is thought to be a major contributor to
anxiety. Our society has very little downtime
and we are always in a hurry. Overbooked, tons
of pressure, not enough sleep and fueled with
caffeine and sugar, people move through life in a
constant state of high alert. At some point,

Ways To Reduce Stress and Anxiety
  • If you are struggling, here are some tips that
    can help decrease stress and stress so you can
    minimize, control or prevent anxiety.
  • Reduce information intake. The news is enough to
    give anyone an anxiety attack. If it is
    constantly in the background, limit it. Turn off
    the television and get specific information from
    reliable sources if you need it.
  • Start saying no. This is a powerful tool at your
    disposal. Don't take on more commitments if you
    are struggling with the ones you have.

  • Turn off devices at least an hour before bed. No
    phones, tablets, laptops or television for a
    minimum of one hour, preferably two.
  • Limit caffeine and sugar, they both contribute to
    anxiety.
  • Get enough sleep, and don't skip meals. Hunger
    and fatigue are both triggers.

Giving yourself time and space to breath is
essential for your mental well-being. If
lifestyle changes don't seem to alleviate your
