  • Sometimes life will give you challenges that you
cant handle or resolve alone. When serious life
challenges like divorce, addiction, a death of
loved ones, separation, career or lifestyle
changes that greatly and negatively affect your
life, and abuse, come your way, you will need
someone professional to support you and help you
    to successfully get through them.
  • When faced with various life challenges,
sometimes you need the guide and help of a
professional therapist or counsellor in order for
you to cope and successfully get through them.

3
  • Some of these life challenges include alcohol or
drug addiction, divorce, a death of loved ones,
separation, career or lifestyle changes that
greatly and negatively affect your life, and
abuse, among others. One of the common ways to
    mend physical, emotional, spiritual, and

  • There are various approaches to psychotherapy.
Each of these approaches or techniques has its
own applications, pros, and cons. It is better to
understand what these different techniques are
and which of them is the most appropriate for you
before you finally decide to start the therapy
session. Let us take a look at the most common
    psychotherapy approaches used by many
    psychotherapists and counsellors in Ottawa.

Counselling Therapy
  • Counselling therapy is perhaps the most popular
and most widely used talking therapy. It is
commonly used to help people who are dealing with
    anger problems, relationship issues (including
divorce and family problems), low self-esteem,
    depression, infertility, anxiety, bereavement,
eating disorder, and other difficult emotional
issues. Through this type of talking therapy, the
trained and licensed therapist will allow you to
share your thoughts and feelings in a secure and
neutral setting and from the information you have
provided, he or she will help you find the
different ways to resolve your problems and to
    deal with your emotional issues.

Grief Counselling Ottawa
  • Grief counselling Ottawa is a type of counseling
therapy that is designed to help people cope with
the feeling of grief or loss due to loss of
employment, loss of loved ones, or significant
    life changes.

an alternative form of therapy that aims to
identify the connection between the mind and body

Emotion-Focused Therapy Ottawa
  • The emotion focused therapy Ottawa or emotionally
focused therapy (EFT) is a short-term
    family-related approach that helps individuals,
families, and couples deal with a sense of
betrayal, fear, bonding, loss of trust,
    attachments, anger, and other relationship
issues. It can likewise help couples in coping
with difficult emotions like trauma, fear, and
depression associated with the serious illness of
their child or their own health problems.

11
Motivational Interviewing Ottawa
  • Motivational interviewing or MI is a
    client-centered and goal-oriented counseling
approach that can help you and the counsellor
identify, explore, and resolve your insecurities
and your other ambivalent feelings in order for
you to know which internal motivation is required
for behavior change. It is usually used for
people who are dealing with all sorts of
addictions and those who are managing physical
health problems or conditions like asthma, heart
    disease, and diabetes.

12
  • During the motivational interviewing session, the
motivational interviewer will encourage you to
talk not only about your insecurities, problems,
and ambivalent feelings but also about why you
want or need to change your behaviour/lifestyle
in a very supportive manner. This short-term,
practical, and empathetic approach also involves
considering how challenging it is for you to make
changes in your life and behaviour.
