Ceramic Technologies Corp. was founded in 1987.
Jeff Epstein started as a Metallurgical Engineer
from the Colorado School of Mines. The company
quickly grew and by 1995, had sales over 1
million per year. Sales doubled again by the year
2000. The company established a niche in oilfield
wear part applications. In fact, a US Patent was
awarded to the company for a ceramic oilfield
application. In 1998, advanced razor blades
became a major focus for the company. Internationa
l distributors contributed to a highly successful
line of ceramic coated industrial razor blades
used to slit plastic film and foil. The company
was a pioneer in this market and quickly built-up
a significant world-wide customer base. In April
2005, the company sold its blade division to
Specialty Blades Corporation. The company has had
numerous articles published in leading trade
magazines like Converting Magazine and has also
been featured in the Houston Business Journal.
