Title: Can Fatty Liver Disease Be Treated - ACRI India
1Fatty liver is a disease that involves the
buildup of excessive fat in the liver, which
leads to not only obesity, but many other health
problems too. The liver is the largest internal
organ, which is responsible for a wide range of
functions, like filtering the blood, and
processing all that we eat and drink. Fatty
liver is the ailment that is considered to be a
problem when the proportion of liver cells that
contain fat goes beyond 5.
The main reason for fatty liver disease is heavy
drinking of alcohol. However, for those who dont
drink alcohol and are yet a victim of fatty
liver, the reasons could include heavy body
weight, high sugar diet, diabetes, low physical
activity, and high triglycerides. Basically, the
ailment develops when the body creates too much
fat and can't metabolize it efficiently enough,
which results in the excess fat being stored in
the liver cells. Fatty liver results in liver
inflammation, fatigue, abdominal discomfort,
poor appetite, weight loss, and weakness.
However, if the condition worsens, it may lead
to severe problems like liver failure, abnormal
bleeding, and jaundice in the skin and
eyes. While there has been no particular solution
to the fatty liver disease yet, except changes in
the diet and lifestyle being advised by doctors,
Israeli researchers have now discovered 27 new
molecules that may lead to a potential treatment
for the ailment. These findings have been led by
Professor Amiram Goldblum at the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem. The research has been
possible by a new algorithm, which chose 27
molecules with the strongest therapeutic potential
2from a database of 1.56 million molecules! These
27 molecules are now undergoing pharmaceutical
evaluations to treat the incurable fatty liver
disease, activating a special protein called
PPAR-delta. This protein has the potential to
increase physical stamina and reduce waistlines
by getting muscle cells to burn more fat. These
future evaluations are also going to hopefully
include testing treatments for improved wound
healing, and to prevent kidney toxicity in
diabetics. These 27 molecules that have been
found by Goldblum have become a big talk today.
Hebrew Universitys Biotech company, Integra
Holdings, has determined that 21 out of the 27
molecules have the potential to reach
pharmaceutical success. Furthermore, Israel's
Heller Institute of Medical Research is also
testing PPAR-delta's physical endurance
properties on mice. We will now have to wait and
watch what comes out of these experiments.
However, Goldblum predicts that in a few years
time, we will hopefully see several of these
molecules in the pipeline for clinical studies
on humans. You can also make your country proud
by getting involved with such clinical research
studies to find new treatments and medical
devices for all kinds of old and new ailments.
For this, you will have to take up a course from
Avigna Clinical Research Institute, one of the
best clinical research institutes in Bangalore,
where you will be educated about every aspect of
clinical research by learned professionals. You
will earn a legitimate certification that can not
only help you build up a great clinical research
career ahead, but will also help you gain the
satisfaction of serving the people of your
country with the best healthcare treatments.
